Shaft length: 10.5 inches (26.7 cm)
Weight: 0.68 oz (19.3 gm)
Flicking tip diameter (1" from end): 1/8" (3.25 mm); equivalent to US size 3 knitting needle
Whorl to shaft density ratio: 0.67

Please note the burl from which the whorl was made had several natural voids that are common to this type of burl. After turning, the voids on the "saucer" (visible in the third photograph) look a bit like cracks but are not the same as cracks in regular wood that can expand over time. These areas were hardened/stabilized with cyanoacrylate and are no more fragile than the rest of the spindle. Please click here for more information on these types of spindles.
